January 2026 meeting redux
From: Michael Harrison via chugalug ------------------------------------------------------ The first Chugalug Chugalunch of 2026 was held Jan 26th at Hi Fi Clydes. The 1st course of Asian BBQ wings was good, sponsored by Virtual-Scan.com. Lunch was provided by Ring-U.com and was also delicious. The meeting was called to order at approximately 12:15, with the first order of business being the impeachment and removal of the current President, Mr. Brockman. It was a unanimous vote, but it was mentioned there are no term limits or frequency limits to the role, and Mr. Brockman might nominate himself soon for a future Chugalug term. See official rules at: https://chugalug.org/glass.php/about/About/ The show and tell portion of the meeting included an EFF Ray Hunter, but no nefarious activity was detected at Clydes or while cruising through downtown at Miller Park/Plaza or the North Shore and Red Bank. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/03/meet-rayhunter-new-open-source-tool-eff-detect-cellular-spying Other show and tell items included an Asus Duo running Debian 13, which prompted questions like "How did they fit that all in there..." On tech topic discussion topics included StarLink, 3CX, VoIP, TLS, Lets Encrypt (another EFF project) and AMD vs Intel. The deeper technical presentation on home automation using AI/LLM/Ollama running Linux on a Qubit (Quantum) computer ran into a Shrodinger Anomoly. Did it happen, or didn't it? If you observed it, it did. Otherwise it did not. The hope is at the time time and space intersection of members of Chugalug, it will be more observable and more realistic. Or relativistic? Off topic discussions and presentations may have included prefered caliber for secure data retention device destruction: 12 gauge is a fav, but .22 works and the various woes of pretty much everything in vogue at the moment. More importantly, if you read this far, you should have been there and hopefully will be at the next meeting. --meuon--=============================================================== From: "Greg Laudeman, Ed.D. via chugalug" ------------------------------------------------------ Sorry to have missed! I make a living selling FOSS and I cover very large enterprises in the south who run their business on open source.
